Dr. Jonathan Marcus Thorax is widely regarded as the 20th century's most important scientist, a fact that haunted him until his death on October 31, 1932.
"I am the quintessential 19th century scientist!" he often proclaimed, because of his opposition to such "ungodly" early 20th century inventions as paperclips and teabags.
His opposition notwithstanding, he received countless accolades for his many achievements, the most heralded of which was the discovery of the chemical compound Thoraxium in 1905. Thoraxium was described in The New England Journal of Early 20th Century Chemical Compounds as both "great" and "useful." Turn of the Century Science and Compounds Weekly gave it 4/5 stars, which, understanding their rigorous standards, is high praise.
In addition to discovering Thoraxium, he was nominated for a Nopel (not to be confused with Nobel) prize and was touted as "pound for pound, the strongest scientist in North America" by Scientific Body Builder (April, 1906).
